Configuring Outlook Express

Configuring Outlook 2002

Setting up your Email Software

To set up your email software, your need the following information which will have been provided to you by Ultradesign, or by your Network Administrator:

User / Account / Login username@yourdomain.com
Password your password
Incoming Mail Server (POP3/IMAP Server) mail.uxn.com
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP Server) mail.uxn.com

About your Outgoing Mail ("SMTP") Server

If you use a dial-up or ADSL line from a 3rd party Service Provider (such as BT, NTL, Tiscali, etc.), it is normal that the Service Provider who supplies your ADSL line will also provide an outgoing SMTP mail server for your use. In some cases your ADSL provider might require you to use their SMTP server for outgoing mail instead of using ours. In this case simply set your "SMTP Server" setting to the hostname your Service Provider has given you for outgoing email.

SMTP Authentication

If you are using an Ultradesign (uxn.com) server as your Outgoing Mail Server/SMTP Server, then you must use SMTP Authentication. If you don't our server will give you an error message ("replaying prohibited"). If your email software can not do SMTP authentication then set your mail software to enable "check incoming mail before sending" (known as "POP before SMTP").
